Case study / Manufacturing · NII

How NII unlocked years of data, without replacing its ERP.

NII's custom-built ERP held years of data that nobody could use, and moving to a new ERP would have cost a lot of money and time. OPENSIGHT copied the data into a new home instead and, within days, built the reports, checks and automation the old system would have needed months for.

01 / The company

Years of data, out of reach.

NII is an Indonesian manufacturer that runs on a custom-built ERP. After years of use, the system holds a full record of the business: every invoice, stock movement and payment. Very little of that record could actually be used.

02 / The problem

An ERP that couldn't keep up with the owner.

The ERP was built rigidly and could not adapt to what the owner needed. Getting data out of it was slow. New features took weeks and cost a lot to add, and even changing the layout of an existing report took far too long.

Product data made it harder. Years of inconsistent SKU names and labels made it practically impossible to group sales by product category, so a simple question such as what was selling had no simple answer.

The accounting team also spent tens of hours every month hunting for input mistakes, and stock movements were typed twice: once into the ERP and once into the factory's stock card, which took staff away from more useful work.

03 / A new home for the data

Copied every night, with the ERP left untouched.

OPENSIGHT Lens keeps a read-only copy of NII's ERP data and never writes to the ERP itself. Every night a full sync brings the copy back in line with the ERP and checks each account balance against the ERP's own figures. For the 2025 fiscal year, net income in the copy matches the ERP's year-end close to the cent.

Because the copy is a system NII can change quickly, a new feature now takes hours to build instead of weeks.

04 / New insights

What the owner can see now.

The team has receivables and payables aging that ties to the ledger, each customer's payment rhythm over twelve months, and a daily list of who to call about overdue invoices. Customers who are buying less, and those buying more, are flagged before the change shows up in the year-end numbers.

On the cost side, NII sees what each product really costs and earns, and can test prices, exchange rates and recipes against margin and break-even in a cost simulator. There are also year-on-year sales volumes by product group, a forecast of when each raw material will run out and how much to order, and a twelve-month cash-flow forecast.

05 / Mistakes, found every night

The accountant goes straight to the problem.

The same nightly sync identifies anomalies: suspected input mistakes and anything else in the books that looks wrong. The accountant works through the list item by item instead of searching for hours. Pulling data, finding mistakes and balancing the books now take 75% less time than they did with the old ERP.

Before a month can be closed, a checklist runs eight checks, and a watchdog reports what was deleted or changed in the ERP the day before.

06 / Less retyping

Each stock movement typed once.

Delivery notes now flow from the ERP into the factory's stock-card workbook on their own. Each new row stays marked until someone checks it, and nobody types the same movement twice.

07 / Product categories, in two hours

Thousands of SKUs, finally grouped.

OPENSIGHT sorted NII's thousands of inconsistently named SKUs into a handful of product categories in about two hours. By hand, the job would have taken days. Once the SKUs were grouped, NII could report sales by category and volume by product group.

08 / Every morning

The business on one phone screen.

Before 07:10 each morning the owner gets a brief by phone with cash and bank balances, yesterday's sales, the worst overdue accounts and any open anomalies. Bank statements are reconciled against the books, and each promise to pay is tracked until the money arrives.
